This work plays with the concept of archetypes and how we associate potency with specific stories. The concept of my friend holding a dying fish is not poetic nor “pretty” in the traditional sense, but upon linking it to Michelangelo’s “Pietà”, the work takes on heavy religious symbolism. Why do we only recognize beauty when viewed from a certain perspective? Are things only meaningful in specific contexts?
