The week after the Parkland Shooting, there were over 200 copycat shooter threats in the United States. I got messages from two of my friends (from different schools) saying "Hey, there might be a shooter on my campus, and I'm scared". How are you supposed to respond to this? My friends tell me that they've scanned their classrooms for places to hide. Other friends tell me they've had nightmares of their classmates dying. To both, I can only respond that I have too. Congress needs to take action to ensure safety for every child, every teacher -- there is no excuse for this. This is Emma González. In the aftermath of the shooting, she represents a generation of students refusing to stay silent.
