DE YOUNG MUSEUM COLLABORATIVE MURAL

In the October off 2018, I had the opportunity to create a collaborative mural for the de Young Museum's Teens Take Action event. Over the course of the night, visitors stamped culturally-inspired patterns onto the mural to create a communal work of art. The mural was part of an event planned by the de Young Teen Advisory Board—a night of art-making and performances to empower Bay Area youth in exploring themes of self-expression, identity, and activism. The Teens Take Action event revolved around the de Young's current exhibition, Contemporary Muslim Fashions, which aims to shed light on the complex, diverse nature of Muslim styles worldwide, from streetwear to couture.
